A Monaghan agricultural economist says the tillage sector could "have a key role to play" in helping the government achieve its climate goals.
Professor Michael Wallace was recently awarded a Nova-UCD Innovation Award for his study on the sector.
The Glaslough native's research revealed that the sector generates €1.3 billion a year and supports 11,000 jobs.
He also says the tillage sector can help the government reach its climate aim of halving gas emissions by 2030.
