Tillage farmers are warning of huge financial losses this year. The Irish Farmers Association (IFA) says they've had moderate to poor yields from a difficult growing season.
It says the terrible weather in July and early this month are badly affecting crops. IFA National Grain Chairman Kieran McEvoy says farmers may need Government supports. "First of all, we will see if we can the weather to turn and hopefully get the harvest finished.
"In September IFA will have a grain meeting and we will get a full review of the situation across the country. We will see at that stage if we need to make a plan and go to Government for a financial package for tillage farmers," he added.
