Minister Heather Humphreys, who received over 12,000 first preference votes in the last election, will not be running this time

The entire count process for the Cavan-Monaghan constituency will make for interesting viewing.

That's the view of Northern Sound's political analyst, Michael Fisher.

Minister Heather Humphreys, who received over 12,000 first preference votes in the last election, will not be running this time. Fine Gael are targeting three seats, as are Sinn Féin and Fianna Fáil. Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, Michael Fisher says it will be fascinating to see where the outgoing Minister's vote goes.

"If Sinn Féin do get three seats, then it will be Fianna Fáil one and Fine Gael one, because that Heather Humphreys vote of 12,800 first preferences last time, obviously that was a personal vote, particularly from the Cavan end of the constituency with her Cootehill connections and her vote mainly came from Monaghan, but it will be fascinating to see just exactly where those votes that she got will go".
