Three people have been arrested following a burglary in Lisgrey in Cavan.
Shortly after 5am this morning Gardaí responded to an alert from a personal pendant alarm, after a break in at a residence.
This incident took place in the early hours of this morning the 19th of May in Lisgrey.
On arrival Gardaí arrested a woman at the scene, and observed two men fleeing on foot from the area.
During the course of a chase the men stole a quad bike from another premises and attempted to flee on it.
Local residents assisted Gardaí to locate the individuals involved and arrested two men.
Three people, one woman in her 40s, and two men in their 30s are currently detained at Bailieborough Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
Investigations are ongoing in relation to this matter.
Inspector Lionel Mullally from Bailieborough Garda Station said, "The activation of a pendant personal alarm and the assistance of local residents is what led to the quick response and these arrests today."
He said it is a testament to the community in Lisgrey that they were there to provide this assistance and came out in support of their neighbour.
