Three Local Electoral Areas across the Northern Sound region are among the ten worst affected areas in the country in terms of new Covid-19 cases.
These LEAs have an incidence rate that is more than double the national average and all Northern Sound LEAs are above the national average.
The national 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 in the period leading up to the 16th of August is 494.
Ballybay-Clones is the second-worst affected area in the country, with an incidence rate more than treble the national average at 1,542.
Bailieborough-Cootehill takes third spot, with case rates of 1,434.
Another Northern Sound region comes fourth, with the Monaghan LEA registering an incidence rate of 1,414.
Elsewhere in the Northern Sound region, Carrickmacross-Castleblayey has an incidence rate of 709.
The Ballyjamesduff and the Cavan-Belturbet LEAs are also above the national average, with rates of 779 and 728 respectively.
The worst affected area nationwide is Cardonagh in Co Donegal, with an incidence rate more than five times the national average at 2,558.
