Three Monaghan women have been honored for their volunteering work with
Concern.
The organisation is the largest aid agency in Ireland and the volunteer
awards began in 2013 to celebrate the vital contribution made by the
charity's volunteers here.
Sascha Cumiskey from Carrickmacross, Lou McLaughlin from Clones and Patricia
Clerkin-McCarron from Scotshouse village were among 32 people from around
the country honored last Saturday.
Lou McLaughlin was awarded for her work as a volunteer adjudicator in
Concern's national secondary schools debating competition, while Sascha
Cumiskey was recognised for mentoring the debating teams in Largy College,
the two time national Concern Debate winners.
Patricia Clerkin-McCarron received an "outstanding commitment" award for
many years of fundraising for Concern.
