Minister of Health, Stephen Donnelly has officially opened three new state of the art Primary Care Centres across the Northern Sound region.
The three centres in Killeshandra, in Clones and in Monaghan Town are part of the HSE Enhanced Community Care programme which aims to offer services within the community.
All three will play a key role in accessing healthcare in the local community according to the health minister.
The local Primary Care Centres will provide services including Public Health Nursing, Dietetics, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Social Work and Chronic Disease interventions. Minister Donnelly met with service users, HSE management and staff at the three openings.
Speaking earlier in Killeshandra, Minister Donnelly said these centres are very much about treating people within their own communities.
"I’m delighted to be in counties Cavan and Monaghan today to officially open Killeshandra, Clones and North Monaghan Primary Care Centres. ECC is a huge investment in community healthcare services, aiming to provide more services closer to people’s homes, and provide extra services for older people, or people who live with long-term health conditions"
Killeshandra Primary Care Centre has been operational since September 2023 and will provide services including Public Health Nursing, Dietetics, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Social Work and Chronic Disease interventions. Killeshandra Lakeside Medical Practice is also operating from the building.
Meanwhile Clones Primary Care Centre has been operational since August 2023. HSE services that will be provided from this Primary Care Centre include:
Public Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, with the further inclusion of Podiatry, Psychology and Dietetics in the future. The Clones GP Surgery Dr Clarke is also located at the centre.
Finally North Monaghan Primary Care Centre has also been operational on the St Davnet’s campus in Monaghan town since August 2023. HSE services that are provided from this Primary Care Centre include:
Public Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Dietetics, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Social Work, Psychology, and some aspects of Mental Health Services. There will also be GP services located within the centre with Monaghan Medical Centre, with Dr Barry and Dr Hackett, and the Rossmore GP Practice, Dr Brett and Dr Brides relocating to the new centre.
