Three hectares of land at Station Lane in Cavan town has been rezoned to bring it back within the town boundary for residential development.
A recent meeting of Cavan County Council heard the land was ideal for low density development and could accommodate between 60 and 70 houses on the site.
Those gathered were told the land was currently beyond the development boundary of Cavan town and the support of members was necessary to ‘amend’ the situation.
The proposal from CE Tommy Ryan received unanimous support from elected members.
Meanwhile, the matter was raised during a county development plan 2022-2028 meeting which will see the plan going to public consultation in the coming weeks.
It is anticipated that implementation will take place later this year.
