Thefts from shops have increased across County Monaghan compared to last year. That's according to crime figures which were discussed at a recent County Monaghan Joint Policing Committee.
137 thefts from shops across Co Monaghan were recorded this year, as opposed to 100 recorded in 2021. According to Garda Pat O'Connell, most of the criminals detected were detained in shops until Gardai arrived and as a result, majority of preparators received court orders.
Elsewhere, figures for theft from MVP decreased from 22 in 2021, to only 16 recorded incidents in 2022. Theft from other areas also decreased from 150 recorded incidents in 2021, to 139 incidents recorded over the last 12 months.
