A Co Cavan fuel supplier says the people he is interacting with while on his rounds want a general election.
Tommy Sheehan, Managing Director of North Pole Fuels, says people are going to freeze to death this winter and he pointed to the carbon tax which is set to increase by €7.50 in tomorrow's budget.
Tommy added that by the time VAT and other taxes are added on, the cost to the consumer will be "threefold". The Cavan businessman highlighted how the Carbon Tax should be pushed back because people are now under "serious" financial pressure.
He is placing the blame for these struggles firmly in the hands of the Government parties. Tommy added the peat plants in the midlands must be reinstated so that everyone can be supported through the current energy crisis.
"It's only a matter of time before the briquette factory goes as well. I don't know what is happening with this country but someone needs to do something quick before the people of Ireland freeze to death," Tommy continued.
"The country has its own natural resources and those resources can't be used. And we have three Government leaders who can't seem to make up their minds."
