As Breege Quinn, the mother of Paul Quinn who was beaten to death in 2007, prepares for her son's 17th anniversary this Sunday, she has re-issued her appeal for information. On October 20th, Paul Quinn was lured to a shed near Oram, County Monaghan and beaten with iron bars and wooden bats by up to 10 men. It's thought he fell foul of the South Armagh IRA which culminated in a pub row with the son of an IRA man.
No one has ever been convicted for the 21-year-old's murder. Mrs Quinn says the way in which her son died means she can never get over his loss. Over the past 17 years, she has repeatedly called for those responsible or anyone with information which could lead to a conviction to come forward to her family or police. Today, on the Joe Finnegan Show, the Cullyhanna mother said the people who were in the shed on the night her 21-year-old son was brutally killed in a prolonged attack, are being protected by Sinn Féin. Breege Quinn said those who killed Paul murdered them too.
Once again, she appealed for anyone who has any information on her son's death to make it known. "It's getting worse instead of better," said Breege. "There's people out there who knows who done it and having information but they're just not coming forward. My appeal would be today is to please, please, please give us some information. The day they murdered Paul, they murdered us, the people who done it have been well protected by Sinn Fein. They've been well warned not to speak. There is some good people out there who know but they're afraid to come forward."
