Transport For Ireland Local Link Cavan Monaghan is enhancing bus services across the region from next month. The Corlough to Cavan route takes effect from Sunday, the 1st of October while bus services from Cavan to Monaghan will improve from Friday, the 6th of October.
Route 929 will operate five daily return services Monday to Saturday and three daily return services on Sunday and Bank Holidays. TFI says the route will offer "enhanced connectivity" to areas including Ballinamore, Newtowngore, Taffs Cross and Killashandra.
Meanwhile, Route 176 will operate six daily return services Monday to Saturday and four daily return services on Sunday and Bank Holidays. The service will also provide for two additional return evening services on Friday and Saturday and includes areas like Threemilehouse, Newbliss, Clones and Scotshouse.
The enhancement is part of the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan which is a major national public transport initiative developed and funded by the National Transport Authority (NTA) as part of the Transport for Ireland (TFI) Network. Manager Padraic Smyth said Route 176 has been one of the most successful routes in this region and continues to go from strength to strength.
He added that additional evening services will provide the communities along the route with further extended access to employment, retail and social opportunities.
