Tesco Ireland has confirmed it intends to submit planning for a replacement store in Cavan town. Subject to planning approval, the application focuses on a modern, sustainable, and accessible new store along with car parking facilities.
There is also provision for Click+Collect services for customers, and a Grocery Home Shopping Hub to serve the wider catchment of the county.
Tesco employs more than 170 staff at its Cavan town and Bailieborough stores.
The retailer has also donated €85,000 to over 300 local projects around the county and raised almost €75,000 for Tesco's Charity Partner Children's Health Foundation, including Temple Street, since 2014.
Geoff Byrne, Chief Operating Officer with Tesco Ireland said the company was delighted to be at this state of the planning process. "Cavan town remains a key part of our overall store footprint in Co Cavan, and we are hopeful that our revised application demonstrates our commitment to its town Centre.
"We're grateful to the colleagues, customers, and the Cavan community for their patience with this long-awaited replacement store," he added.
