It is hoped that the widely anticipated pop-up swimming pool for Carrickmacross will be available to locals by the end of May. Swim Ireland issued the tentative date of late May following a request from local councillor Colm Carthy. According to Cllr Carthy, the expected time frame is subject to an assessment of the proposed site.
While the assessment is due to be carried out over the next number of weeks, Cllr Carthy is "hopeful" that the facility will be in place for the end of May, in time for the popular Carrickmacross Festival which takes place every year over the June Bank Holiday weekend. Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Carthy has encouraged members of the public to utilise the facility to ensure that it stays in Carrickmacross for as long as possible.
