The tender for a long awaited regeneration project for Cavan Town has been published. The tender seeks contractors to carry out the redevelopment of the Abbeylands Quarter in Cavan Town. Works include the creation of a new public space linked through to surrounding streets, with new laneways, landscaping, and shared surfaces. Also included is conservation works to Protected Structures on the site, including a tower structure, two stone structures along the walls of the graveyard and works to surrounding masonry of heritage value, all within the curtilage of the former Franciscan Abbey.
A dilapidated coach house stone building is also set to be refurbished into a coffee shop, while an old town house will also be converted into a shared office facility. Facilities such as a purpose built Community Centre Office Building to accommodate a grouping of community organisations, in a purpose-built shared office facility and a Remote Working and Cultural Building are included.
The Remote Working and Cultural Building would have a Community and Cultural function space on ground level with a flexible blend of office work models and functions on upper floors. The closing date for the tender is August 28th.
