Cavan County Local Development has issued a tender for a research project to develop a migrant integration strategy for the county.
Cavan County Council and the Cavan County Local Development Company say there is a need to identify and overcome barriers to inclusion faced by new communities.
The aim of the research project is to provide an evidence-based informed strategy to support migrant communities in the county, given the increasing diversity that is seen within communities.
The project will also help to identify measures to mitigate the challenges encountered as a result of greater cultural and ethnic diversity.
It is hoped the strategy will provide a structured framework to effectively support migrant communities and to facilitate social cohesion.
The strategy will support migrant integration at a local level by promoting better social integration in the county, as well as ensuring community services are catering for the increasingly diverse population.
As a local integration strategy, it will be aligned with national integration policies to ensure that measures are mainstreamed in the work of all Government Departments and agencies, public bodies and organisations.
The response deadline is 4pm on the 17th of August.
