A tender has been published for a new digital voucher scheme for Monaghan.
The new scheme will see current town vouchers brought together into a county-wide voucher. The tender is seeking a provider to implement a new digital voucher for the entirety of County Monaghan. In the background notes provided by Monaghan County Council, it states that the Monaghan Town gift voucher is currently a paper voucher which can be bought in 10 or 20-euro denominations from participating retailers. Similar schemes are also in operation in Carrickmacross, Castleblayney, and Ballybay. The vouchers don't expire, however they are limited to the specific town or area they're bought in. Last year, €2 million worth of vouchers were sold with many businesses using them as gifts to employees. According to Monaghan County Council, the manual processing of paper vouchers is now costly & time consuming, and it is no longer considered viable to continue operating a paper voucher as sales continue to grow. The tender is looking for a provider to digitise the voucher, allow it to be used across the entire county, and reduce administrative time and costs. The contract would be for 2 years, with an option to extend for two further one year periods.
Submissions close tomorrow.
