The tender evaluation for Bailieborough Garda Station is nearing completion.
The long-awaited project was first announced in 2007, with the current station in the town said to be unfit for purpose.
In December, Minister for Public Works Patrick O'Donovan said the contract for the three-story former National Irish Bank building was being put to tender.
A spokesperson for the Office of Public Works confirmed to Northern Sound News that the evaluation of the tenders is now almost complete.
A timeline for when the process should move to the next stage wasn't available, as it is the subject of ongoing discussions between An Garda Síochána and the Department.
When given the green light, construction and renovation is expected to take 18 months.
