A status yellow snow and ice warning has been issued for Cavan and Monaghan. Met Éireann has issued the weather warning from 5pm tomorrow until 5pm on Sunday. Magheracloone man and national forecaster Gerry Murphy says falls of sleet and snow with snowfall accumulations are expected across the Northern Sound region.
He added that potential impacts will include hazardous travelling conditions, poor visibility and travel disruption. According to the Met Éireann forecaster, temperatures could drop as low as minus three degrees tonight with the cold snap expected to continue well into next region across the region.
