Teenage boy dies in workplace incident near Ballyjamesduff

A 17-year-old boy has died in a workplace incident at a recycling facility in Co Cavan.

Gardai and emergency services were alerted to the incident near Ballyjamesduff after 4.30pm yesterday afternoon.

The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed from the scene to the mortuary in Cavan General Hospital and a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) have been notified. A file will be prepared for the Coroner's Court. Local Fine Gael Councillor, Trevor Smith says the people of the wider Kilnaleck area is shocked and saddened by this awful tragedy.
