Tara Lynagh says that many people locally experienced food poverty, domestic violence, and isolation over the last 12 months.

Teach Oscail in Cavan had to become creative to engage with an increased number of people seeking support due to the pandemic.

That’s according to Tara Lynagh, co-ordinator of the Family resource centre, who also says that Covid presented a number of challenges for people who had never been in difficulty before.

While she acknowledged there were positives for families in terms of spending more time together and a further development of community, many faced food poverty, isolation, and domestic violence.#

Tara says they sent out activity packs, helped with application forms, and provided company for people over the last year, while also trying to reach those who were new to the service:
