Taoiseach Micheál Martin will lay the foundation stone to mark the beginning of works on Phase 2 of the Ulster Canal restoration project in Clones this afternoon.
He will be joined by Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O'Brien; Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys; Minister for Heritage, Malcolm Noonan; and Northern Ireland Minister for Infrastructure John O'Dowd MLA.
This afternoon the Taoiseach will travel to Carrickmacross where he will officially open the newly-constructed Activ8 Solar Energies Headquarters.
The new 20,000 square foot headquarters in Carrickmacross is the most energy efficient commercial premises in Monaghan.
It is also the first Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZE) to obtain planning permission in the county.
