The Taoiseach has confirmed that "a limited number of places are available" for the new online Driver Theory Test.
He was responding to a question from local TD Pauline Tully, who asked if a "glitch" was behind the lack of available tests.
The Sinn Féin TD told the Dáil that "there was no availability for any dates in May, June, or July".
She added that this is preventing many young people from getting a summer job that requires driving.
Micheál Martin acknowledged there is a "significant backlog awaiting tests" and said a "key priority for the government is to move to in-person theory tests" as soon as possible:
