The Tánaiste has told the Northern Ireland secretary that Gardaí will not be sent to police the border.
Micheal Martin spoke with Chris Heaton-Harris by phone last night, with the latter re-iterating the UK government won't take back asylum seekers who cross the border from the North.
In the House of Lords last night, former DUP deputy leader, Nigel Dodds raised this concern: "The Irish Government talk about 80 per cent of people coming oin from Northern Irelqand and has not prpoduceed any real evidence as to the actual figures but, can we be assured that Northern Ireland will not become a dumping ground, there won't be a people border between Northern Ireland and the rest of the United Kingdom?" he asked.
