The Tánaiste Micheál Martin is in Newry today for a conference to promote compassion for people with palliative care needs. A survey out today shows more than half of Irish adults feel fearful when they hear the term palliative care.
However, almost 8 in 10 feel reassured this kind of care could help them or someone close to them on Palliative Care Week. All Island Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care CEO Karen Charmley says communities have a positive role in helping people.
