Talks are underway for an event in Monaghan to celebrate 100 years of An Garda Síochana.
Garda Superintendent Pat O'Connell said it was hoped that the Civic Offices in Carrickmacross could be used for the occasion in September.
It's hoped the celebration would include an academic element to discuss the establishment of the Gardai, while also including a community engagement element.
The Joint Policing Committee also heard that it could be an opportunity to mark the involvement of Monaghan's Eoin O'Duffy in the early years of An Garda Síochana.
