An Taisce has lodged an appeal with An Bord Plenála after planning permission was granted for a Liquefied Natural Gas Plant compound in County Cavan.
Cavan County Council had granted permission to Farragh Proteins for a project in Crossdoney.
This project would see the construction of an LNG plant, with two 130 metre cubed horizontal tanks and two ambient vapourisers.
The planning application also included provision for a regulation station, electrical control room, and new service road from the existing site at Legaland and Monnery Upper, Crossdoney.
However, in a representation to the Council in March, An Taisce said Farragh Proteins "failed to assess the climate impacts" of "burning LNG and the emissions generated by sourcing and processing that gas".
Cavan County Council had granted permission for the project but An Taisce has since lodged an appeal with An Bord Plenála, which will be decided by early March.
