SVP groups in Cavan and Monaghan are asking people to consider donating unwanted or unused vouchers this year.
Madeline Ní Mhealoid the representative for this region on the National Social Justice Committee for Saint Vincent de Paul, and she says the last 9 months have been extremely difficult for families, particularly those with unreliable employment, and single parents.
Across the country Madeline says calls have increased and they have dealt with everything from poverty, to depression, and family break ups.
She says that having food and fuel is the most important thing for those struggling at this time, with many having prioritised getting some presents for children for Christmas.
She is urging people not to throw away or forget about vouchers that could make a huge difference to someone in need :
