The Department of Social Protection says a range of supports will be put in place for Lakeland Dairies workers laid off by the company. About 78 jobs are expected to go as the company shuts three sites between Monaghan and Down next year and in 2025.
Minister Heather Humphreys has described the news as "deeply disappointing" and said her thoughts are with the affected staff. Officials from her Department have been instructed to make "immediate" contact with the company to discuss the way forward.
