SuperValu Carrickmacross has achieved a 61% carbon reduction since implementing sustainable initiatives over the past few years.
As part of its significant investment, the store incorporated a number of sustainability upgrades to enhance the premises' efficiency.
It included the upgrading of refrigerators and freezers and the installation of LED lighting and Electric Shelf Edge Labels (eSELs) as well as the addition of 412 solar panels on the premises.
Eugene O'Gorman from the Carrickmacross store said management are aware of the responsibility that rests on climate action, both individually and
collectively.
He added that the changes made in-store have achieved a 61% carbon reduction and everyone is looking forward to building on those actions, and making "everyday real sustainable action" accessible for the store's loyal customers.
"As a community hub, we are committed to reaching Net Zero by 2040 and we will continue to enhance sustainability measures across our store to play our part," concluded Eugene
