Cootehill in Co Cavan was honoured at the prestigious Pride of Place community awards, which took place on Saturday evening in Dublin.
The town took top spot in the 'Town with a Population between 300 and 1000' category, with judge praising the community spirit amongst the residents.
Meanwhile the village of Knockatallon in Co Monaghan also emerged victorious at the prestigious awards ceremony - taking top spot in the 'Town with a Population between 0 and 300' category.
Speaking in relation to the local village, judges said they were "immediately impressed" with the pride, participation and innovation that were in evidence on the occasion of their visit.
Adding that the "jewel in their crown" was undoubtedly the community owned hotel.
