Cavan County Council officials are inviting members of the public to tender submissions for the proposed introduction of a rates abatement scheme for derelict properties. The local authority are hoping the implementation of a rates reduction targeted at vacant properties will end dereliction issues.
In a statement issued to Northern Sound, Cavan County Council said they will consider a scheme providing for abatement of rates in respect of vacant properties, applying in the 2025 local financial year,” a council spokesperson said.
Cavan County Council welcomes written submissions from the public on this matter specifically covering the potential effects of a scheme providing for the abatement of rates in respect of vacant properties on businesses, individuals and on local authority services. Written submissions on Cavan County Council’s Vacant Properties Rates Abatement Scheme can be made up until Friday, November 8 at 5pm.
