A Bailieborough schoolboy who slipped in his school's canteen has settled his High Court action.
17 year old Adam Fay from Drumahilla, Bailieborough had metal screws inserted in his leg after the incident in 2017.
This incident took place at around 1.40pm on October 24th that year in the canteen at St Aidan's Comprehensive in Cootehill.
The High Court was told Adam Fay slipped on what's believed to have been food probably dropped by another student during the school lunch break.
Adam, who was wearing school shoes at the time, was helped back on his feet by other students.
He was taken to Cavan General Hospital where he was given crutches and discharged but two weeks later he had an MRI scan as he continued to have pain.
This revealed he had a healing fracture of the neck of the left femur.
He was in hospital for a number of days and had to have an operation where three metal screws were inserted.
He was also on crutches for about three months after the accident and had to have physiotherapy.
The boy also had a residual limp for eight months after the accident.
The Court was told liability was admitted in the case and it was settled for €50,000.
