Storm Debi has caused major disruption to powerlines throughout the Northern Sound region. In Carrickmacross this lunchtime, 781 households have been left without electricity, whilst 419 homes in Bailieborough also remain affected.
Elsewhere, almost 600 homes are left without power in Virginia thus afternoon while 215 homes in Ballyjamesduff are without electricity. ESB has apologised for the loss of supply to those impacted and are currently working to repair faults affecting premises, with the hope of restoring power as quickly as possible.
As Storm Debi swept across Cavan and Monaghan this morning, travelling was made difficult in some areas due to fallen trees and flooding. Staff at both Cavan and Monaghan county councils, local Gardaí and fire stations are busy assessing the situation in their respective areas and are working to get information out to residents and anyone who needs to make a journey this morning.
