Ireland's Weather Channel is predicting that Storm Darragh which is on its way to the Northern Sound region at the weekend will be a "significant weather event". Met Éireann has also issued two status orange warnings and and several status yellow wind warnings for Ireland from tomorrow night.
Trusted weather-watcher Cathal Nolan told the Joe Finnegan Show earlier that "Darragh" is expected to hit Ireland tomorrow night and last into Saturday bringing with it heavy rainfall and very strong winds. Between 25 - 40 mm of rain is expected to fall causing a risk of localised flooding. Possible other impacts of the storm include fallen trees, damage to power lines and difficult travelling conditions.
He said in our region it could lead to severe conditions and status orange, and possible even red weather warnings in some locations. The forecaster advises people to follow weather updates before travel:
