Almost three years after it was announced it was to reopen, there's still no timeframe for the reopening of Bawnboy Garda Station.
It was announced in December 2017 that the west Cavan station was among six rural stations that would be reopened.
The Justice Minister Helen McEntee says refurbishment works are needed at Bawnboy Garda Station before it can reopen.
Northern Sound News first reported in summer 2018 that the works would be needed before it could open, however, the Minister again said last week that a "deliberative process" is ongoing between the OPW and the Gardaí.
The OPW told this station in July 2018 that it had "advised Garda management of the works required and the likely cost to carry them out" but there's no clarity on what works or discussions, if any, have taken place since.
Minister McEntee said it's "not possible to provide a timeline" for the reopening of Bawnboy until "the detailed and definitive design is agreed and a fully costed estimate is determined".
