The Stay and Spend Scheme is being welcomed by members of the hospitality industry locally.
Yesterday the government announced a tax break of 20% for people who spend between €25 and €625 on accommodation or foods and services between now and Spring.
General Manager of the Slieve Russell Hotel in Ballyconnell Tony Walker says it will help protect the jobs of almost 4,400 people who work in the sector across Cavan and Monaghan.
He is encouraging all relevant businesses in the region to join up to the scheme and hopes that customers will support local.
