Temperatures could drop as low as minus four overnight. A status yellow ice warning is due to come into effect from six o'clock, with hazardous road conditions expected.
Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather says there could be sleet and snow in some areas. He continued; "It will certainly remain cold for Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly up to Thursday. Unfortunately, there is still a great deal of uncertainty around the details of the weather on Wednesday and Thursday with a risk of some sleet and snow moving in. It could hold off and stay just cold and mainly dry but there is certainly a risk of some wintery fall so people will need to keep up to date with the weather forecast."
