Stabilisation works on a Monaghan town building are expected to get underway shortly.
Concerns have been raised about the building on the corner of Mill Street and the North Road after sagging in the roof.
The building was acquired by Monaghan County Council under the derelict sites act and it had been assessing the condition of it this summer.
The local Municipal District now says a contractor will be on site within a week.
Works will include the removal and replacement of the roof and other works to the walls of the building.
The building had been placed on the property market in 2018.
