Families across Cavan are finding it difficult to put food on the table.
That's according to Madeline UI Mhealoid of St Vincent De Paul Cavan who expressed her thoughts on the cost of living crisis.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show earlier today, Madeline says more people are going into the poverty line, due to increasing energy costs, with many families unable to pay essential bills.
Nearly 600,000 people are living in poverty across the country, with close to 170 of those being children.
The St Vincent De Paul representative says the charity has witnessed a "large increase" in calls compared to last year, with the cost of living crisis proving to be particularly difficult for single parents who she says need "special supports."
While Government will be focusing on aiding people with energy costs in the autumn, the Cavan native says families need help now.
