St Macartan's College in Monaghan is to make bicycles available for students who want to cycle to school.
The new initiative has already seen bike parking areas installed and a drying facility for students will also be made available.
It's being sponsored by former student Pádraig Sherry and was launched recently by Municipal District Chair Councillor Raymond Aughey.
It's hoped the scheme will give a health boost to students, as well as reducing the amount of traffic around the school in mornings and afternoons.
The County Council is supporting the programme and it's hoped there will be further investment in cycling infrastructure in the area in the coming years.
