St Louis Convent in Monaghan Town has launched a new CD which showcases the outstanding talents of past and present music students. This project began as a way to honour the resilience and dedication of young musicians, many of whom missed out on opportunities to perform and shine during the Covid-19 pandemic. The school wanted to create a lasting legacy for them, and now, it’s here for locals to experience. Each track on the CD which is available to purchase from the school celebrates the incredible creativity and spirit of our school community. Music teacher Jackie Cassidy worked with students on this project.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Jackie said she is "blown away" by the work and dedication of students who wanted to raise funds for the music department that would in-turn benefit students of St Louis Convent for years to come. "This experience means so much and they are all fabulous girls, they really are," praised Jackie. "They would do anything whether it's practising, heading to the recording studios, this is all their work. We have an annual musical every year and they make so many friends, it also shows off their talents and skills which have been enhanced by this CD as well. It's so important for them to have positive and happy memories of their school years and working on a project like this has a lasting impact, not just for the school. It's something that you never know when they have their own children they can get out on their CD and say that's what I did. I was part of that legacy."
