Cavan Roads Policing Unit conducted speed checks throughout the weekend. A number of motorists were detected driving well in excess of the speed limit and received fixed penalty notices.
Gardai said one driver had his van detained for no tax or valid NCT. Another driver stopped short of a checkpoint and turned onto a minor road.
He was subsequently apprehended by Gardai and arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
