Cavan Gardaí say they've stopped and fined a number of drivers for speeding this week. The detections were made even in advance of another national Slow Down Day, which kicked in at 7am this morning.
Meanwhile, in Monaghan this week, Gardaí have had cause to stop hauliers and machine operatives drawing heavy loads. As the clean-up after storm Éowyn continues gardaí say there is a "big increase" in the movement of track machines like diggers, on our local roads. Over the last three days, gardaí in Monaghan have offered advice to machinery operators on the correct securing of loads stressing that "no matter how short the move is the load must be secured correctly".
All those caught speeding in Cavan were issued with fixed charge penalty notices and fines. Nationwide, a dedicated speed enforcement operation will remain until 7am tomorrow.
