Gardai in Co Cavan are currently investigating a spate of burglaries that occurred in the county over the last four weeks. Cash, laptops, professional bikes and a caravan are among the items taken, and Gardai are appealing to those with information, to come forward.
On the 3rd of June last between 3pm and 4pm, a black play station gaming console was stolen from a property in Maxwell Court, Cootehill. Two windows were left open at the home and burglars used the opportunity to gain entry to the property.
Around the same time - between 3pm on the 3rd of June and 6am on the 4th of June - the owner of a property in the Waterloo area returned to find an upstairs window broken and their home ransacked.
Gardai say a substantial sum of cash was taken as well as a laptop and an airsoft rifle. They are appealing to anyone with information to make contact with Bailieboro Garda Station.
Meanwhile, Gardai are continuing their investigations into a robbery at a property in Island, Virginia on the 8th of June last. On the day, during the hours of 9am and 2pm, three professional bikes and a power washer were stolen from a shed.
Gardai are appealing for information and are advising cyclists across the county to ensure their bikes are safe and secure. And, Gardai in Cavan town have launched an investigation into the theft of a white Fleetwood Caravan in Crossdoney.
The incident occurred between the 12th and 13th of June last, and they are anxious to speak to anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident. Local Gardai are also advising agricultural contractors and those driving heavy machinery to exercise caution on the roads.
They are also asking them not to allow anyone who does not hold the necessary licencing documentation to drive.
