A pilot scheme for electric Vehicle (EV) charging points is to be established in Ballybay.
A meeting of the Ballybay/Clones Municipal District heard this week that the project is being spearheaded by Monaghan County Council in conjunction with EasyGo.
Those gathered heard that the legal aspects of the project are currently being finalised.
And, once that gets the seal of approval, the necessary infrastructure will be installed.
Cllr Seamus Coyle said charging points were necessary if people were going to be encouraged to buy electric vehicles in the first instance.
He welcomed the project and added how beneficial, locally, it would be.
"If we are going to encourage the use of EVs, we need charging points locally," he added.
"This is a very good initiative and I welcome it in Ballybay."
