On September 10th next, local mental health charity SoSad will mark World Suicide Prevention Day with events across Cavan and Monaghan.
The charity offers free counselling to people aged 16 and over.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Rhiannon McClelland branch coordinator in Monaghan, said it's very often the case that people who are suffering need to take that first step on the road to recovery.
SoSad, she added, is there to support and help from that point on.
Meanwhile, the charity has organised it's annual 'Dawn till Dusk' walk across the region on September 10th and a social event will also take place at Lough Muckno.
"September is a really big month for us and World Suicide Prevention Day is at the heart of that," Rhiannon continued.
"We will have a memorial event at Loch Muckno and it will be a special time for people who have lost a loved on to suicide.
"They can paint a stone in memory of a loved one or write their name on a memory tag and place it on a tree."
