SOSAD Cavan with the support of EastCavan4Wellness has announced that it's opening a hub in Mullagh. The hub will operate every Monday at St Killian's Heritage Centre.
The service will provide pathways to other additional supports along with the availability of counselling. Local man, Martin Tynan organised a walk in Virginia and raised over 20,000 euro which has allowed the hub to now operate in Mullagh.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Martin believes this new hub will be an opportunity for people to become aware of the important services that are available to them. He added that the hub is yet another example of how tackling mental health at a local level can bring about much-needed change.
"I think the problem we are facing in this country with mental health and suicide is that it has became all too common," explained Martin. "I feel like this crisis will not be solved at a national level, but instead at a community level. When I organised the walk in Virginia, it was the community that I had in mind."
