A solution is in sight for the persistent flooding problem in Donaghmoyne in Co Monaghan.
That's according to Senator Robbie Gallagher who says funding has been ring-fenced for a survey on the problems that have been creating these flooding issues.
He said that him and Cllr PJ O'Hanlon met with local residents in Donaghmoyne last weekend to tell them that the council has now committed to engaging a consultant as soon as next month to undertake analysis and design for flood mitigation in the village.
The completion of the design will allow the council to move forward to accessing funding to advance the implementation of the identified remedial drainage works in order to address the ongoing seasonal flooding issues in Donaghmoyne village.
Senator Gallagher says this is very welcome news for the people in the village who have had to endure flooding problems for a number of years now.
