Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Councillor TP O’Reilly officially turned the sod on the 45-home Páirc na Teile social housing development in Bailieborough. The development is being constructed by principal contractor GEDA Construction, under the supervision of Cavan County Council’s Housing Construction team, and was designed by Hamilton Young Architects. The development consists of 28 two-bed homes, 10 three-beds, two four-beds, one five-bed and four one-bed units, and is being wholly funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government, and Heritage, with a total project cost of €11 million plus VAT.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Cllr TP O’Reilly said he was "pleased" to see Cavan County Council continue to make excellent progress in delivering much needed social housing in the county. He added that this modern development will provide security, safety, and a sense of community and place for 45 families, while also providing a welcome boost for business in Bailieborough, by expanding their local client base.
Cllr O'Reilly continued; "This development represents an investment of €11 million plus VAT in Bailieborough and in the people of Cavan by the Government, and thanks to the efforts of our Housing Construction section, and the team of dedicated contractors, I have every confidence that it will represent excellent value for money in the years to come. I look forward to returning here in early 2026 to view the completed development."
